New Jersey’s Carteret County Public School System is revamping its security by implementing a computer-based visitor management system in all of its 16 schools, according to a local news report.

The system leverages a database of visitor information and notes individuals allowed to check-in and -out students. A photo of the person is made for positive identification and printed on a custom label for visitors to wear while on campus. The system provides parents the security of knowing that not just anyone can come pick their child.

Visitors must supply their name and information including their reason for the visit and where in the school they will be visiting. Visitor badges are printed with visitor’s name, location, date and photo. Thanks to the new system Carteret schools now have an accurate account of all individuals on school campuses and interacting with students and staff.

Donated by Ident-A-Kid Services of America, the computer software is called Complete Campus Security Solution (CCSS) and should be in place at all 16 Carteret County public schools by mid-November. The school district will provide the necessary hardware, using older surplus machines.
