TCF Bank and DePaul University announce exclusive campus banking partnership

Andy Williams   ||   Mar 03, 2005  ||

An agreement between TCF Bank and DePaul University that gets underway this summer will give students at the Illinois school more banking options, including free checking, through their DePaul ID card, which will also provide them with debit and ATM services.

Burr Ridge, Ill. - TCF Bank and DePaul University recently announced their exclusive campus banking relationship that will bring convenient banking services to DePaul students, faculty, staff and alumni. TCF Bank, “Open 7 Days a Week,” will offer DePaul students “Totally Free Student Checking” with no minimum balance requirements and no monthly service fees. DePaul faculty and staff will receive similar benefits through TCF’s “Campus Card Faculty and Staff” checking account. Both students and university employees will be able to access their TCF account via their DePaul ID card, which will also act as an ATM and debit card.

“This is a natural partnership for both TCF Bank and DePaul University,” said Tim Bailey, president of TCF Bank’s Lakeshore Division. “TCF Bank is an industry leader in campus card banking programs. The demographics of the DePaul student body mirror those of TCF. Our extensive network of branches throughout the Chicagoland area will bring added convenience to parents of DePaul students who may want to make deposits into their student’s account.”

As part of the agreement, TCF will:

–Open and staff a campus branch on DePaul’s Lincoln Park Campus.
–Provide a yearly donation to a DePaul scholarship fund.
–Install and maintain up to eight campus TCF Express Teller machines.

TCF Bank is also a strong supporter of DePaul’s athletic program, sponsoring such sports as men’s basketball, women’s basketball and women’s softball.

“Our partnership with TCF Bank is part of DePaul’s effort to meet student, faculty and staff’s expectations for practical amenities that enhance their educational and work experiences,” said Scott Scarborough, DePaul’s executive vice president for Operations. “TCF’s additional support for DePaul’s scholarship and athletics programs furthers our mission to increase access to education and instill leadership values through athletic participation.”

Starting in the summer of 2005, all DePaul students will receive a new ID card and have the opportunity to link their card to their convenient TCF Bank checking account.

In addition to DePaul University, TCF Bank partners with other universities and colleges with similar campus banking programs. Other relationships include Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois; University of Michigan and Saginaw Valley State University in Michigan; University of Minnesota, St. Cloud State University and Minnesota State University - Mankato in Minnesota.

DePaul is the largest Catholic university in the United States and the largest private university in Chicago. The university enrolls 23,570 students in a wide range of academic and professional programs on campuses throughout the metropolitan area. Innovative, diverse, pragmatic, values-based and actively connected to the community, DePaul is the hub of a vibrant network that enables people to advance personally, professionally and intellectually.

TCF Bank is a subsidiary of TCF Financial Corporation (NYSE: TCB), a $12.3 billion Minnesota-based financial holding company.
