The CBORD Group, at its recent Campus System User Group Conference, announced the release of its CS Gold version 5, which includes several user-requested features, including an XML interface capability and administrative web features.
Ithaca, New York– The CBORD Group unveiled new software and hardware solutions for its CS Gold and CS Housing product lines at the annual CBORD Campus Systems User Group (CCSUG) conference, held Nov. 9-13 at the University of Illinois at Chicago.
The CS Gold system enables campus administrators to deploy a single, robust card system that offers students, faculty, and staff cutting-edge functionality and improved security. Client excitement regarding the newest software, CS Gold version 5.0, was at an all-time high due to the inclusion of several user-requested features, including an XML interface capability, Oracle Database 10g, and administrative web features. There were also new devices to go along with these new software features, such as PDAs for transactions and administration.
“The CS Pocket Reader offers full reader capabilities for a range of applications in a single device with both online and offline capabilities,” states Bob Lemley, Director of Campus System Development. “This reader, along with the CS Gold AdminPDA, puts CBORD at the leading edge of what campus card systems can do, and offers our campuses new flexibility in utilizing their card systems.”
The CS Gold AdminPDA gives system administrators the ability to use a wireless connection on-campus to view patron information and reader status, as well as lock and unlock doors. “No longer are administrators tied to their desktop machines; the system can be truly operated from anywhere on campus”, says Bruce Lane, CBORD’s Executive Vice President.
An update to CS Housing for campus housing management was also unveiled at the conference. New features in CS Housing 4.0 include Oracle Database 10g, automatic software upgrades, advanced searches, and added web features such as online room selection, proxy capabilities, and email functionality.
