With more than 5,400 locations in 23 states, Wells Fargo boasts the largest financial services distribution network in the nation. The institution’s goal in the higher education market is to “provide a suite of financial products and services to higher education through extraordinary and unique university partnerships.” Campus card banking relationships form a key piece of this suite.

In 1998, Wells Fargo began long-term relationships with Texas A&M University and the University of Northern Colorado (UNC). Both of these Universities had well-established campus card programs and thus any service provider had high expectations to meet. Apparently, Wells Fargo was up to the challenge. According to Cindy Vetter, UNC Card Manager, “The University of Northern Colorado is very pleased with our relationship with Wells Fargo Bank. We have had a very successful contract with Wells Fargo for the last 6 years, and we can truly say it is a definite partnership. They have been very supportive of banking services for our university and for the UNC Card Program.”

In the past two years, Wells Fargo was selected as a financial partner by four other campuses. According to Wells Fargo’s Shelley Heinrich, VP, Assistant Controller, “our campus relationships are the pride and responsibility of our local Wells Fargo teams. Our vision is to be the University’s and student’s financial partner now and build strong relationships to offer them financial services as they experience growth and life changing events.”
