Datacard Group Delivers High-Speed, Full-Color Inline Card Printing Breakthrough

Innovative retransfer color printing module redefines card printing

MINNETONKA, Minn.–Datacard Group, the world leader in secure ID and card personalization solutions, today announces the Datacard® Artista® VHD retransfer color printing module for the Datacard® MX6000™ card issuance system. This innovative module delivers true edge-to-edge, full-color card printing with 600 dpi image quality inline with an array of advanced card personalization capabilities. The Artista VHD module also sets a new standard for speed, printing up to 1,500 unique cards per hour.

“Edge-to-edge, full-color inline card printing has been near the top of the industry’s wish list for some time,” said Katherine Boosalis, marketing manager of central issuance for Datacard Group. “We are excited to be the first company to deliver this important breakthrough for card issuers. No other inline system can match the Artista VHD module’s combination of speed, quality and performance.”

On-demand color card printing effectively eliminates the need to preprint cards — a process that can consume weeks of valuable production time. With this module, issuers can load blank white cards into the MX6000 system and rapidly produce an entire run of individually distinct cards just as quickly as the same size batch of identical cards.

“The Artista VHD module redefines what card issuers can do for their customers,” Boosalis said. “High-speed, full-color inline printing creates unprecedented opportunities for issuers to consolidate multiple small jobs, get new cards to market more quickly and respond to emerging customer needs faster than ever — as well as reduce card types in the vault, which significantly reduces inventory costs.”

Capabilities of the new Artista VHD module include fine-line printing, metallic inks, spot color and 1,200 dpi variable microprinting — all with quality that rivals that of traditional lithographic printing. This versatility empowers issuers to create compelling cards for virtually any market, including highly personalized financial cards, transit cards, secure IDs, gift cards and others while maintaining high productivity.

Datacard Group offers the world’s best-selling secure ID and card personalization solutions. The company’s portfolio includes systems for high-volume card issuance, card delivery and fulfillment, secure ID issuance and passport production, plus extensive service and supply offerings. Datacard Group serves customers in more than 120 countries (www.datacard.com).
